Embarking on artificial intelligence is like stepping into a utopia of digital possibilities. The scene is dotted with freebies and gifts from AI creators eager to share their knowledge. While I do not want to get too technical, I want to highlight some opportunities.
Natural Language Processing APIs, such as OpenAI’s GPT-3 (and even more -4), can conjure creative texts with a mere command. ChatGPT is like a super-smart robot that learns from tons of text. You tell it what you want, and it writes something significant back. It can do it well because it has learned so much from all the reading it has done. We call it deep learning, which involves training and understanding relationships and patterns from vast amounts of text data. It can capture nuances in language and generate text that closely mimics human writing style. ChatGPT Plus costs $20 monthly, giving you access to 1000+ plugins and advanced data analysis.
Google Vision AI and Microsoft Azure Computer Vision help you decipher the content of images using advanced technology. They let you understand what is in images using smart tech that automatically recognizes objects, identifies text, and does other cool stuff.
Google Analytics offers insights into website traffic, revealing user behavior and trends.
Alternatively, design with the help of Microsoft Designer, where an AI image generator can make any image you describe. You delineate an image you want to create. Then, the AI interprets the description and generates the corresponding image, utilizing advanced algorithms and deep learning techniques to translate your input into visual content, such as social media ads, flyers, posters, banners, logos, infographics, and presentations. It is a versatile tool that can help users design various graphics.
The quest continues with AI-enhanced mobile apps. Imagine a whole suite of apps that transform photos or translate languages at your fingertips. AI-enhanced applications like Adobe Photoshop Express, Google Translate, and Prisma utilize artificial intelligence to provide powerful tools for photo editing, language translation, and artistic alterations on your smartphone. My international friends also use Duolingo, an AI-supported mobile app that offers personalized language learning experiences. It is like having a pocket-sized tool that allows you to learn and create things beyond your imagination.
Microsoft also introduced Copilot, your everyday AI companion. It is an AI assistant that helps people and organizations be more creative, productive, and connected. It has several features and aims to deliver better search, chat experiences, content generation, and assistance in Microsoft’s services. It seeks to empower users to achieve more with AI in everything they do.
My investor friend also recommended Tome, an AI-powered presentation and document creation tool. Tome helps to express ideas quickly and effectively. Features include AI assistance in structuring and enhancing documents, creating rich and interactive presentations, and designing innovative themes and layouts. Integrations with various platforms allow for the seamless embedding of interactive content. Tome caters to multiple audiences, such as founders and startups, creators and freelancers, marketers, sales teams, and product teams, offering templates for different purposes.
Of course, there is now also AI for music generation, such as Suno or even better Udio.com, where you can generate the music, vocals, and even lyrics, or you can input them manually. Some tunes are super catchy. Now anyone can make their own hit!
At work, we also use Otter.ai, a helpful tool for meetings and discussions. It uses an AI Meeting Assistant to deliver real-time transcribing services. It can capture presentations, record audio, transcribe spoken content, and even extract action items. By generating precise meeting notes and making recorded material readily accessible, this cutting-edge AI technology increases efficiency. Otter.ai ensures crucial conversations are reliably recorded, whether in person or virtually, enabling teams to work together more productively.
Do not worry if you are less familiar with these novel technologies or want to learn more about them. You can easily Google or YouTube it, for example. Though these days, Perplexity or Phind can also be seen as new search engines. Educational platforms like Coursera, Skillshare, and Udemy can guide you through the arts of machine learning and neural networks, providing you with access to premium knowledge through expert-led tutorials, practical exercises, and interactive lessons at your convenience.
While ethics, authenticity, and questions of plagiarism in the AI domain are still very much at play, the opportunities remain.
But, to paraphrase a colleague of mine, are we just creating new Frankensteins? We make our monsters and then lament that we cannot control them. Threat or opportunity is a valid dilemma in this space.

OpenAI has just launched Sora, an AI model that can create realistic and imaginative video scenes based on text instructions. It was introduced as a text-to-video model, capable of generating videos up to a minute long while maintaining visual quality and adhering to the user’s prompt. Sora can understand and simulate the physical world in motion. However, its real-life simulation abilities are fascinating and even alarming.
You can input prompts describing various scenarios, and Sora generates corresponding videos based on those instructions. These prompts range from depicting a stylish woman walking down a Tokyo street and a Dalmatian dog walking out of the window in picturesque Burano Island, Italy, to showcasing historical footage of California during the gold rush. The model can also create complex scenes with multiple characters, specific types of motion, and accurate details of the subject and background. Sora’s deep understanding of language allows it to interpret prompts accurately and generate compelling characters that express vibrant emotions. It is hard to tell what is real and what is imaginary.
For example, Klarna, a Swedish fintech company, introduced an AI-powered virtual assistant into its customer service operations. This assistant handles tasks equivalent to 700 full-time employees, including communication, refunds, cancellations, and disputes. Ironically, they also laid off 700 employees in 2022. Still, the team at Klarna asserted that the advancement of its AI assistant was independent of these workforce reductions but highlighted the potential long-term advantages of AI technology.
I am a big AI nerd. I used artificial intelligence technology to assist me in creating this book, gathering information and streamlining the writing process, improving the content through grammar and style checks, and enhancing my productivity. At the same time, I am worried about how it perpetuates stereotypes.
For promotional efforts, marketing organizations can nowadays hire content creators to develop AI versions of themselves. This sparks further discussions on the ethical implications of using digital likenesses and AI’s role in content creation. There are now several digital influencers entirely generated by AI, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to tell what is real.
In this AI wonderland, there are gifts aplenty, and the journey is as enlightening as it may be scary.
